The safety of your baby when you place him/her in a bassinet is most important. This bassinet features a high-quality, safety system, such as a handle made of high-quality metal that is soft to carry over hands if you wish to hold it in your hands.

Can you use UPPAbaby bassinet safe for sleeping? For and Against

I have been looking for information from the manufacturer and the experience from parents that have used the UPPAbaby bassinet. So here is what I found out.

Can you use Uppababy Bassinet for sleeping – For

According to the UPPAbaby website‘s support section, the bassinet is safe for overnight sleeping: “The Bassinet is a safe overnight sleep solution” – UPPAbaby.

When it comes to bassinet sleep safety, there are a few crucial elements to consider, including breathability, mattress type, and airflow.

Unlike most bassinets nowadays, the UPPAbaby bassinet does not have a mesh kind of cloth for breathability. That does not, but, imply that it is not breathable. It’s important to know that the UPPAbaby bassinet can be used both at home and on the Vista stroller. As a result, it’s built to be durable enough for a variety of activities where mesh sides wouldn’t suffice.

The inside cloth is incredibly soft and breathable, and it acts as a barrier between the outside and inner materials. So, even if your baby falls asleep on his side, he’ll be able to breathe easily through the bassinet.

Although the mattress is tiny, it is quite comfy. It’s completely perforated, with large enough holes to allow for plenty of airflows.

Lowering the canopy or unzipping and opening the lowest part of the canopy, where a mesh is located, allows for better air movement. It also includes a sunshade with SPF 50 for when you’re outside or even inside in a bright environment.

For the sleeping surface, the UPPAbaby scored slightly higher than average. This mattress is firm but soft, and it performed well in Uppababy compression tests.

It provides a firm and supportive sleeping surface and fits the space snugly without allowing fingers to be placed inside the edge. If you apply pressure to one end of the bassinet, or if a baby scoots most of their body weight to one end or the other, the entire bassinet will tilt slightly.

Can you use Uppababy Bassinet for sleeping – Against

Although the manufacturer tested and approved for overnight sleep, some parents claim the bassinet is safe for babies to nap but not overnight.

The Uppababy bassinet is intended for use on walks outside. This design is more focused on protecting babies from the elements, which this bassinet excels at. However, parents are concerned that the design makes it unsuitable for overnight sleeping.

In their opinion, this bassinet has some holes beneath the mattress pad, and the product is not very breathable. Its narrow width and padded liner restrict its ability to breathe. It lacks a mesh and may not be suitable for overnight sleep. Because your baby may become pressed against the nylon thread if not closely monitored.

Verdict

Can you use Uppababy bassinet for sleeping? It totally depends on your personal view and your baby’s experience with it.

If you notice your little one doesn’t take long naps in it, or seems to be bothered, letting her/ him sleep in it overnight is not a good idea.

But if your baby sleeps like a little angel in it, and he/she seems loving it, then you can give it a try. Just make sure you always keep an eye on your little one so that you can notice even the slightest sign he/she is trying to tell you.
